Jim has over 25 years of hands on operational, company building and software development experience. Jim’s expertise resides in business & product strategy, mergers & acquisitions, enterprise technical architecture, product development strategies and senior team facilitation.
Jim has started and sold numerous companies from real estate and oil & gas to private equity and health care informatics software. Jim is high tech with high touch – this enables him to uncover hidden problems and springboard companies to the next level.

Jonah Simpson, CTO
Jonah graduated with a bachelor of Computer Science degree with a focus in Video Game Design. For the last 10 years he has been primarily involved in building cutting edge web-applications for a variety of sectors including: government, security and advertising, among others. Jonah is well versed in numerous technologies from the .NET framework to esoteric web scripting languages like WiTango.
Jonah’s knowledge of frameworks and software architecture has enabled him to maintain a pragmatic approach to development and team facilitation. Jonah’s passion for bleeding-edge technology, tempered with a need for process, has resulted in an opportunity to learn and achieve even more within his role as Chief Technology Officer for PURUS Technologies.

Mark Chidwick, Chief Collaboration Officer
Mark has over 25 years of experience in business intelligence and information management solutions for a number of industries including: upstream oil & gas, aerospace, transportation, and mobile asset tracking. Along with building a successful information management consulting practice, Mark also developed a software company that delivered large-scale seismic data management solutions to oil companies worldwide.
Mark’s patient personality, customer focused attitude and numerous publications in knowledge management, information management and business intelligence, has enabled him to effectively architect information management strategies for large-scale private and public entities.

Tom Poole, Director of Client Services
With over 30 years of building and supporting software Tom has fulfilled many different roles. Tom’s experience is vast – given the different roles he has played and the numerous industries in which he has worked. His previous work with international system providers gives him a global perspective and the implications of providing service at that level. His experience provides him with the understanding of what it takes to ensure Client Services address the needs of the customer and protect their interests.
He is passionate about ensuring software is built from the customer’s perspective and believes that success is achieved when complex tasks are made simple and software provides a satisfying user-experience.
Jeff Crevolin, VP, Business Development
Jeff has 15 years of experience in technology, O&G and startups. His background includes sales, marketing and engineering roles and which allows him to work closely with customers to understand their needs and deliver innovative, results focused collaboration solutions.
Jeff brings the unique ability to contribute to the vision and strategic plan of Purus while being able to translate that into a detailed execution methodology. Jeff brings leadership, creativity and innovative problem solving skills that are being used to develop stakeholder relationships that are key to Purus’ success.

James Maltby, Development Manager
James graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Computer Science. Raised in the “Great White North”, it wasn’t until his father started a multi-media company that his passion for technology really took flight. James has 7+ years’ experience building software, mainly using Java, JSP, Hibernate and a handful of open source tools. His transition to PURUS has exposed him to such technologies as C#, WPF and WCF, all of which have fed his appetite for learning new technologies.
James is currently working with management and engineering to ensure that PURUS meets its goal: make Collaborative Decision Management a reality.

Justin Poonwah, Development Team Lead
Justin graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a focus in software development in a hardware environment. Upon graduation Justin was able to secure a software development position with Symantec Corporation. His position entailed adding functionality to a small, JAVA based, back office web application, but quickly turned into a full blown re-write in .NET.
After numerous years with Symantec, Justin decided to swap the corporate life for something a little more intimate. With a focus on C# and WPF technologies, he leads development on the flagship product at PURUS.

Barry Evans, Chief Ontology Architect
Barry attended the University of British Columbia where he studied Computer Science. For the last 35 years Barry has been writing C and commercial grade Prolog code. Barry was a senior Prolog programmer for Ericsson and wrote the vast majority of a modeler and rule engine for an Internet rule based diagnostic tool.
After his stint with Ericsson, Barry went on to work in workflow logics and medical Ontologies with Medical Decision Logic, Inc., whose clients include the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and other leading academic medical research centers.
Barry is currently working on the Ontological “Big Picture” and the implementation and maintenance of various ontologies that PURUS is working with.

Clayton Lafleur, User Experience Designer
Clayton graduated from the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts with a Degree in Classical Animation, which he followed with a Degree in Computer Animation from Sprott Shaw Community College. Clayton worked throughout his school years as a Chef for a number of different restaurants where he learned to manage extreme deadlines in fast-paced environments. His experience in the culinary arts is wide, ranging from being the sole Chef in intimate wine bars to coordinating teams of thirty people in a large, corporate-wide restaurant chains.
After spending numerous years in a kitchen, Clayton decided to hang up the apron to take on a bigger challenge. With his focus on User Experience, Clayton is heading up the User Experience Design of PURUS’ flagship product.

Simon Nix, Software Developer
Simon graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, specializing in Game Design. During his degree, Simon interned at Electronic Arts Entertainment in Vancouver for eight months, working on the online EA Sports World. He was involved in a number of projects including web development, and quality and load testing. He also worked with Dr. Sheelagh Carpendale in the University of Calgary’s InnoVis lab, where he designed novel interaction techniques for using laser pointers as the input device for large interactive displays.
After completing his degree, Simon joined the PURUS team and has been working as a software developer for last three years. He has been focusing on improving his abilities as a programmer by broadening his experience with technologies such as WPF, WCF, and C#.

Matthew Tobiasz, Software Developer
Matthew holds a Bachelor and Master of Science from the University of Calgary. During his graduate school career, his research interests focused around information visualization, interaction design, and tabletop computing. He spent six months at Harvard University on a Research Fellowship, and his thesis investigated using meta-visualization to facilitate collaborative data analysis for small groups of people working together around large tabletop displays.
His interest in supporting collaboration and making information more accessible through visualization is what drew him to the dynamic team at PURUS.
